A Delhi court on Saturday granted bail to former MLA and Congress leader Alka Lamba in a case linked to the alleged violation of prohibitory orders during a protest at Jantar Mantar demanding women’s reservation ahead of the 2024 General Elections.
The case stems from an FIR registered against her last year at the Parliament Street police station. The Rouse Avenue Court had earlier issued a summons to Lamba after taking cognisance of the charge sheet filed by the police. However, she sought exemption from appearance on two occasions and failed to turn up.

On September 24, the court issued a bailable warrant against her for non-appearance.
In response, Lamba, who is also president of the All-India Mahila Congress, appeared before the court on Saturday, where Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Vaibhav Chaurasia granted her bail and directed the prosecution to furnish a copy of the charge sheet.
The court has now fixed October 15 for arguments on the framing of charges.
