Terming UER-II a “high-speed lifeline for Delhi”, the minister directed Delhi Traffic Police to intensify safety measures through sign boards, awareness drives, surveillance cameras, and patrolling vans, while ensuring that ambulances are stationed at regular intervals.
“Our goal is to provide a convenient, safe and reliable travel experience without compromising on security,” he said.
The minister asked the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to construct service roads at the earliest to improve access for area residents and prevent congestion.
He said the Delhi Jal Board had completed shifting a water pipeline at Nangli Sakrawati, resolving a critical hurdle in the project.
To tackle waterlogging, departments were instructed to devise a permanent drainage plan in vulnerable stretches such as Karala-Kanjhawala Road, Mundka-Karala Road, and the area near Barwala village.
Verma directed the BSES to fast-track transformer installation for Package 5 and asked the NHAI to coordinate with the India International Convention Centre (IICC) to meet power needs.
Senior officials of the NHAI, Delhi Traffic Police, PWD, BSES, Delhi Jal Board, and the Delhi MC were in among the attendees of the meeting.
Verma said inter-agency coordination was vital to the timely completion of UER-II, which he said would set a benchmark in modern infrastructure for the Capital.
