Police arrested Khudda Jassu resident Harjinder Singh, alias Ravinder Singh, for an extortion bid and for threatening Punjabi singer Mankirat Singh Aulakh. Cops said Harjinder was arrested from Delhi International Airport as he was trying to fly abroad.

“The suspect has lived in Italy for some time and was again looking to flee abroad. He has been taken into custody and more revelations are likely to occur,” police officials said.

A case under Sections 318(5) and 351(2) of the BNS has been registered at the Mataur police station on August 21. Aulakh received threat calls from unknown numbers on his management’s phone number for the past few days. Police officials said they were verifying the phone number.

Sources said the threats came in the form of voice calls and WhatsApp messages on his management team’s phone number. The caller was speaking in Punjabi and even threatened his family members by sending pictures of Aulakh’s home and vehicles.

The controversial singer has gotten threat calls from gangsters in the past also.
