Red Fort blast: Security beefed up at key establishments

A tight layer of security at the key establishments and monuments in the capital was seen on Tuesday morning after a high-intensity blast near the Red Fort left more 13 persons dead on Monday evening.

A heavy police presence was seen near Qutub Minar complex in the southern part of the city. The police also carried out intense checking of the visitors visiting the monument.

Similarly, Jama Masjid, a few kilometres away from the Red Fort, also saw additional deployment of security forces.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) posted on X, “In the wake of blast in a vehicle near the Red Fort Metro Station, installations secured by the CISF in the National Capital Region (NCR), including Delhi Metro, Red Fort, government buildings and IGI Airport have been placed on high alert. The situation is being constantly monitored and personnel are on standby.” As a precautionary measure, the Lal Quila Metro Station, in front of which the car was ripped off by the explosion remained closed for the entire day.

The Delhi Police have also increased its vigilance in the Capital. A post on X from the Deputy Commissioner (East District) mentioned, “In view of the current security scenario, East District Police have intensified its vigilance to ensure peace, safety and harmony.”
