Reinstatement of Bus Marshals: Delhi BJP holds protest outside CM residence

Delhi BJP held a protest outside the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Monday, demanding the reinstatement of bus marshals and civil defence volunteers (CDVs). The protest, which drew approximately 2,000 BJP workers and representatives of bus marshals, emphasised the need for accountability from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva, joined by senior BJP leaders including MP Yogendra Chandolia and Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, addressed the crowd, stating, “We are here to demand accountability from Atishi for spoiling the Diwali of more than 10,700 bus marshals. These bus marshals are not just numbers; they are families who lost their jobs due to one signature of Arvind Kejriwal.”

The protest escalated as BJP leaders and over 50 other protesters broke through police barricades towards the CM residence, resulting in their police detention and subsequent release at the Tilak Marg Police Station.

Sachdeva continued, “No matter how many accusations AAP makes, we will keep raising our voice for these bus marshals until they get employment.” He criticised the AAP for failing to act on the L-G order to reinstate these workers by November 1. Gupta added, “Since October 2023, bus marshals have been on the streets, and they haven’t been given employment or their pending salaries.”
