Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to review sanitation and waste disposal systems in Delhi’s markets. The meeting was attended by Minister for Development Kapil Mishra, officials from market boards and the Department of Urban Development.
During the meeting, various suggestions were presented regarding the effective disposal of market-generated waste. A detailed review of these proposals was undertaken, with officials discussing ways to improve coordination among departments to strengthen sanitation mechanisms.
According to officials, it was decided that a follow-up meeting would be held soon to take stock of progress. The government has also planned awareness initiatives targeting both vendors and consumers, emphasising the need for collective responsibility in maintaining market cleanliness.
The meeting comes amid growing concerns over hygiene in crowded market areas, with the government prioritising sanitation as part of its wider public health agenda.
