Built at a cost of Rs 6 crore by the Dhanuka Group under a CSR initiative, the waiting hall is expected to offer significant relief to thousands of patient attendants, who until now were left with no option but to wait in hospital corridors due to lack of seating space.
Calling AIIMS more than just a hospital, the Chief Minister said: “It is a prestigious institution and a beacon of hope for those whose treatment options have been exhausted across the country.”
She noted that over 6 lakh patients are served annually by AIIMS’s OPD services and lauded the significant improvements in infrastructure and services over the past decade under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Before 2014, the facilities here were disorganised. In the past 10 years, AIIMS Delhi has become a model of systematised and efficient healthcare,” she said.
Emphasising the role of public participation in governance and development, CM Gupta described the Dhanuka Group’s initiative as an “exemplary CSR initiative,” and urged more organisations to contribute similarly. She said such contributions strengthen the foundation of a Viksit Bharat and Viksit Delhi.
