Rekha presents Monsoon session report card

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday presented the report card of the recently concluded Monsoon session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, highlighting her government’s “record-breaking” performance of passing three major bills within just five months in office.

Addressing a press conference at the Delhi Secretariat, she contrasted this with the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, which, she said, had passed only 14 bills in its five-year term, mostly concerning salary revisions and GST.

Gupta said the session, held from August 4 to 8, saw discussions on 62 topics, with equal time given to the Opposition. Among the bills passed was the long-pending Delhi School Education (Transparency and Fee Regulation) Bill, aimed at curbing arbitrary fee hikes in private schools.

She also tabled two CAG reports alleging financial irregularities under the AAP regime, including non-utilisation of central funds for Yamuna cleaning and the AMRUT scheme, and the failure to submit utilisation certificates for Rs 52,000 crore in GST revenues.

Rejecting the “Gallows House” controversy as negative politics, Gupta reaffirmed her government’s focus on transparency, accountability and public welfare. She also announced the distribution of 2.2 million national flags under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign ahead of the Independence Day.
