Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Jha has alleged that hundreds of residents of Jai Hind Colony, located near Yamuna Apartments in Vasant Kunj, are facing forcible eviction despite their cases being sub judice.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Jha claimed that the colony’s residents — mostly Bengali Muslims working as domestic help and sanitation workers — were left in a desperate situation after basic services such as water and electricity were cut off allegedly on the directions of the Delhi Government.

“It appears that Delhi Police conducted a document verification drive last December. Locals allege that they are being evicted even as their cases are pending in court,” Jha wrote.

He further said the Delhi Jal Board has disconnected the water supply and that on Tuesday morning, electricity meters were seized, plunging the settlement into darkness. “In the evening, police and RAF lined up and forcibly prevented the private tankers which the residents had paid for,” he added.
