The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) elections have once again gone in favour of the National Democratic Teachers’ Front (NDTF), the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)-affiliated teachers’ group. VS Negi of NDTF was elected President with 3,366 votes, continuing the trend of RSS-backed candidates winning the prestigious post in Delhi University’s teachers’ body.

The victory reinforces the political clout of NDTF within campus politics. The group is ideologically aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and its influence in DUTA elections has steadily grown over the years. In the last elections held in 2023, NDTF’s AK Bhagi had also clinched the presidency by defeating Democratic United Teachers’ Alliance (DUTA) candidate Aditya Narayan Misra by a margin of over 400 votes. With Negi’s win this year, the NDTF has now successfully retained the top post for a consecutive term.

Apart from the presidential contest, the results for the Executive Council were also declared. A total of 15 candidates have been elected, reflecting a diverse mix of representation. Akanksha Khurana secured the highest number of votes with 9,576, followed closely by Ramamnanda Singh with 9,192 and Manish Kumar with 7,372. The council further includes Sakshi Yadav, Dinesh Kataria, Amit Singh, Bimlendu, Sanjay Kumar, Biswajit Mohanty, Chhotu Ram Meena, Bhupendra Singh, Yasha Yadav, VS Dixit, Devendra Kr Rana and Dhan Raj Meena.

The DUTA elections are one of the most closely watched contests in academic circles, as the teachers’ body has historically played a significant role in shaping debates on education policy, university governance, and the rights of the teaching community. This year’s outcome once again reflects the consolidation of RSS-backed groups in Delhi University’s teacher politics, signaling that the NDTF remains the dominant force on campus.
