Warns him to ‘stop using religion as political tool’

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva visited the Hanuman Temple at Connaught Place here on Tuesday to offer prayers and seek forgiveness for former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal following his recent remarks that allegedly misrepresented the Ramayana and hurt Hindu sentiments.

The visit, accompanied by BJP leaders, including MP Yogendra Chandolia, media head Praveen Shankar Kapoor and BJP leader Vikram Mittal, was a symbolic gesture of seeking forgiveness for the “disrespect” shown by Kejriwal.

Sachdeva expressed regret over Kejriwal’s comments, stating that it was unfortunate for a political leader like him to make such inaccurate statements about Hindu deities, especially when he claims to be Hindu himself.

“It is regrettable that electoral Hindus like Arvind Kejriwal, in their ignorance, narrate false stories during election campaigns, thus disrespecting our deities and hurting religious sentiments,” said Sachdeva.

The Delhi BJP president also reminded the public of Kejriwal’s previous controversial statements, including his anti-temple rhetoric and his suggestion to replace temples with hospitals.

“This is the same Kejriwal who will forever be remembered for his opposition to temples and his suggestion to replace them with hospitals,” Sachdeva added, accusing Kejriwal of an ongoing anti-temple narrative rooted in personal beliefs.

Sachdeva also observed a symbolic fast as an act of prayer while continuing his regular activities. The BJP leader warned Kejriwal to stop using religion as a political tool, stating that such remarks could damage the social fabric and alienate Hindu voters.

Sachdeva also raised concerns over the security situation in Delhi, criticising the Delhi Police for their slow response in addressing the presence of illegal Rohingya and Bangladeshi immigrants in the city. He accused AAP MLAs of sheltering these individuals, claiming their letters had been intercepted as evidence of their involvement in supporting illegal immigrants.

“Rohingyas and Bangladeshi nationals pose a serious threat to the security of Delhi and the country. AAP’s failure to address this issue is concerning,” he stated.
