The Supreme Court today indicated that it would withdraw its order extending the period of limitation to file cases and appeals under various laws from October 1.

A Bench led by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana said its April 27 order extending the limitation periods under various laws could be lifted. “I think we can lift the order. We can now say the period of extension will be up to October 1,” the CJI said, reserving the order.

Agreeing with the CJI’s suggestion, Attorney General KK Venugopal said he was not in favour of further extension of the limitation period. — TNS
