The MHA today announced its decision to appoint Sachidanand Srivastava, a 1985-batch UT cadre IPS officer, as the regular Commissioner of Police, Delhi. Srivastava is scheduled to superannuate on June 30. The MHA said, “SN Shrivastava, currently holding the additional charge of Commissioner of Police, Delhi, is hereby appointed the Commissioner of Police.” — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
