A major lapse in the security arrangements of the Delhi Police during Janmashtami celebrations on Saturday has led to action against nearly 30 policemen.

The move followed an inspection by Commissioner of Police SBK Singh, who visited the ISKCON temple in Rohini Sector-25 to review security. During his visit, several policemen were found absent from duty. Considering it a serious breach, the Commissioner ordered departmental proceedings.

According to police sources, eight personnel, including an Inspector, Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables and a woman officer, have been suspended with immediate effect. A departmental inquiry has been initiated against the remaining staff.
