The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-affiliated Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas (SSUN) would organise a month-long ‘Gyan Maha Kumbh 2081’ on the side-lines of the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, from January 10 to February 10, 2025. The event would bring together educators, officials from around 500 universities and 5,000 students.

SSUN National Secretary Atul Kothari said the primary goal of the event is to accelerate the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and promote the inclusion of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) in education. "All states are gradually adopting NEP, which is a significant reform in education," Kothari said.

The Indian Knowledge System (IKS), a division under the Ministry of Education, is dedicated to promoting and preserving traditional Indian knowledge.

Dr Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities, said the event would also feature discussions on enhancing the quality of education and promoting Indian languages.

In the lead-up to the Gyan Maha Kumbh, SSUN has already organised four regional ‘Gyan Kumbhs’ in Haridwar, Nalanda, Puducherry and Ahmedabad between October and December 2023.
