Snake slithers into office, sparks scare

A black-headed royal snake (Spalerosophis Atriceps) made its way into the office of White Line Airways in Jhandewalan here on Tuesday. The startled staff immediately contacted the Wildlife SOS emergency helpline, prompting a swift rescue operation.

The incident, which was captured on CCTV cameras, unfolded in the early evening when the non-venomous two-foot-long snake was spotted coiled in a corner of the office.

Wildlife SOS rescuers arrived promptly, safely securing the reptile in a specialised snake bag for observation. Once its well-being was confirmed, the snake was released back into its natural habitat.

Kartick Satyanarayan, Co-founder and CEO of Wildlife SOS, emphasised the importance of such rescues, stating, “This rescue is a reminder that snakes can sometimes find their way into urban spaces, seeking shelter or warmth. While this was an amusing incident, it highlights the importance of coexistence and responsible wildlife rescue efforts.”

Suvidha Bhatnagar, Director of Communications at Wildlife SOS, highlighted the need for greater awareness about urban wildlife.

“Encounters like these emphasise the importance of reporting such incidents instead of taking matters into one’s own hands, ensuring the safety of both people and animals,” she stated.
