The Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Wednesday reviewed the security and civic infrastructure in Narela sub-city and issued instructions to preventing crime, illegal encroachment of public land and enhancing amenities for the housing societies as well as industries operating in the area, Raj Niwas officials said.

“Apart from deploying nearly 500 ex-servicemen for security of the DDA residential societies and regular patrolling by the PCR vans, the L-G also directed the Delhi Police to launch a specific drive for identifying the bad characters and repeat offenders in the vicinity.” they said.

The meeting included the Vice Chairman of the Delhi Development Auhtority (DDA) and other senior officials, DCP Outer North, District Magistrate and the Zonal Divisional Commssioner (Municipal Corporation of Delhi). The move came amid LG’s plans for redevelopment of the Narela sub-city and transforming it into a hub for educational and sports activities.

Implement tobacco-free guidelines in edu institutes

The Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena directed for strict implementation of guidelines for tobacco-free educational institutions falling within the Directorate of Education and the Higher Education Department, Raj Niwas officials.The move came after the ninth review meeting of the State-Level Committee Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD), held recently.
