Teenager stabbed to death, two minor boys apprehended

The accused, aged 14 and 15, have been apprehended and a blood-stained knife believed to have been used in the crime has been recovered.
According to officials, a PCR call was received on June 2 regarding an unconscious and bleeding boy near Durga Mandir in Taliwalan Basti. After getting information, a police team rushed to the spot and found the teenager grievously injured. He was immediately taken to RML Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
An eyewitness, who was accompanying the victim at the time, told the police that they were walking home when they were attacked from behind by two unidentified assailants wielding a knife. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the assault.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan said a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and a detailed investigation was launched.
Acting on specific inputs, the two accused were apprehended on Thursday near Jeewan Mala Hospital. During interrogation, they allegedly confessed to the crime. The murder weapon was later recovered from a nearby park, the officer added.
The motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained. The police said further investigation was underway.
