According to the police, a person had filed a complaint that he received a call from an unknown number in which the caller informed him that his parcel containing passport and drugs had been seized by the Customs Department. Later, another caller introduced himself as Customs officer and threatened to file an FIR. Soon after, a fake police officer made a video call and threatened him with digital arrest. By scaring the victim, a large amount of money was withdrawn from his bank account.

ACP Cyber Priyanshu Dewan said, “Probe revealed that out of the defrauded amount, Rs 59,000 came into Anuj’s account. We have recovered Rs 2,000 from Mahesh’s account.”
