Two-year-old girl sexually assaulted, neighbour held

A two-year-old girl child was allegedly sexually assaulted by her neighbour in North Delhi’s Bawana area, a senior police officer said
here on Tuesday.

The accused, whose identity has not been revealed by the police, was arrested.
Sharing details, the police said a case under relevant sections of the BNS and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered on June 27 at the Bawana police station on the complaint
of the victim.

“The victim, who is a little over two years, was raped by the accused,” the officer said, adding that the accused was nabbed on the same day the complaint was lodged.
After arresting the accused, the police expedited the investigation and gathered all evidence pertaining to the crime.
“We will file a chargesheet this week only and seek a speedy trial,” the officer said.
