The Ugandan woman who was found in a bloodied condition near the IMT Chowk in Manesar died because a speeding car hit her as she was crossing the road, the police said. The police have arrested the accused driver today and seized the car involved in the crime.

The body was found on the service lane of the Delhi-Jaipur Highway on September 7. The deceased woman was identified through her passport as Nasimwa Madina (33) of Uganda. She lived in Delhi and came to India around two years back on a study visa. She and her friends would often visit Gurugram’s clubs and bars. She used to work as a hair stylist at a salon.

An FIR for murder was registered a day after the incident, while the autopsy was conducted on Wednesday. The doctors had said that she had probably died in an accident. The police have handed over the body to her kin.

“The postmortem report revealed the cause of death was an accident. We then identified the accused with the help of CCTV footage. We have arrested the driver, Deshraj (24), a resident of Shimla village of Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan, today,” the SHO concerned said. The accused revealed that he worked as a driver. He said, on September 7 at around 5.00am, as he reached the chowk, the woman suddenly came in front of his car.
