When the police arrived at the spot, they found Dr Akhtar with his head resting on the table sitting on the chair as blood oozed out from his head. Police investigated the CCTV footage revealed two 16-17 year-olds entering the hospital at around 1 am. “One of the boys asked him to change the dressing for an injured toe,” a police official said.

The police learnt that the duo also visited the hospital last night for the dressing of the injured toe, however, they had gone back. Along with the doctor, two staff members were also in the hospital – Md Kamil and Gajala Parveen.

“After the dressing was done by Kamil, the duo went to Dr Javed’s cabin for procuring the prescription for medicine. Later the staff members heard a gunshot, when Parveen went to the cabin, she found Akhtar on the chair with blood oozing out from his head,” a senior police officer said.
