Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Ankush Narang, has questioned the cancellation of the Under Hill Road project.

Addressing the media, Narang claimed the project concerning property at 2, Under Hill Road was initially passed by the BJP-led Standing Committee despite major irregularities, but was later withdrawn due to internal disputes over money.

“If the BJP had already passed it, why cancel it later, was the money not divided properly?” he alleged, hinting at large financial transactions involving individuals “from Civic Centre to BJP Delhi office”. Narang said the project was linked to a private builder and was previously rejected by the North MCD in 2021.

He cited discrepancies such as wrong Khasra numbers, unregistered property and altered plot size — listed as 5,400 square yards instead of the actual 11,800. “The layout plan approval despite these facts shows clear misuse of power,” he said.

He alleged that when the “distribution of money” fell through, the project was abruptly cancelled, but warned it may be reintroduced once the internal quarreling was resolved.

He accused the BJP of continuing its “15-year-long legacy of corruption” in MCD, prioritising builders over civic issues. Calling for accountability, Narang said he would write to the Municipal Commissioner, Vigilance Department and Anti-Corruption Bureau demanding a probe into the finances of the project.
