“I am now working with even greater determination. I am not afraid of any demonic force. I am used to fighting storms and the people of Delhi are my greatest strength,” she said.
Sharing her college memories, the CM on a lighter note said she could not secure admission to the SRCC due to its high cut-off percentage in 1993. She added, “Perhaps I had to become Chief Minister to come here.”
Recalling an incident during her student life, the CM said when she was the president of the Delhi University Students’ Union, she sustained serious injuries during a protest. Despite that, she did not lose courage at that time, and the same spirit continues to guide her even today.
In her address, Gupta reiterated her priorities and vision for a ‘Developed Delhi’, stating that making Delhi a world-class educational hub is one of her priorities.
“We already have excellent colleges and universities in Delhi. What we now need is to provide outstanding infrastructure, modern facilities and world-class faculty so that students choose to stay here rather than go abroad to shape their careers and build the nation’s future,” she said.
Rekha urged SRCC students to recognise that every individual has a vital role in the nation’s progress.
“This country cannot advance relying only on governments. Every citizen, every student, every professor and every faculty member must shoulder their responsibility. We must think not only of ourselves but also of our society and our nation. Even the smallest effort, when made in the service of the country, has a great impact,” she mentioned.
