Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described Maharishi Valmiki as not only the Adikavi (first poet) of the Indian literature and the creator of the Ramayana, but also a symbol of equality, justice and humanity.

“Maharishi Valmiki’s ideals continue to guide society on the path of respect, dignity and harmony. This occasion is an opportunity to remember his life and teachings that continue to inspire generations,” the Chief Minister said.

Gupta reiterated her government’s commitment to the uplift, education and empowerment of the Dalit community, adding that the teachings of Maharishi Valmiki uphold the spirit of justice and harmony.
