Valmiki Jayanti: Delhi Govt offices to remain closed today

All government offices across the Capital will remain closed as part of the celebration.
To commemorate the occasion, various programmes, processions and tribute meetings were held across the city on Monday. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta participated in several events, including a special programme at the Delhi Secretariat, held under the aegis of the Department of Social Welfare.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described Maharishi Valmiki as not only the Adikavi (first poet) of the Indian literature and the creator of the Ramayana, but also a symbol of equality, justice and humanity.
“Maharishi Valmiki’s ideals continue to guide society on the path of respect, dignity and harmony. This occasion is an opportunity to remember his life and teachings that continue to inspire generations,” the Chief Minister said.
Gupta reiterated her government’s commitment to the uplift, education and empowerment of the Dalit community, adding that the teachings of Maharishi Valmiki uphold the spirit of justice and harmony.
