To ensure smooth voting in the DUSU elections, a review meeting was held among senior police officials and the varsity administration, an official said on Monday.

It is pertinent to mention that the voting will be held on September 18 for all the four posts on the students’ council. As many as 21 candidates are in the fray for these spots.

The meeting was chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Yogesh Singh.

It was emphasised that “all efforts would be made to ensure fair and clean DUSU elections”.

Reiterating the commitment to discipline, the university and police authorities underlined that they were committed to zero tolerance of any violations of the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations and the DUSU elections guidelines.

The DCP (North Zone) gave his assurance that all possible police arrangements would be in place to that end. It was also informed that the college elections would be conducted using paper ballot and arrangements for the same would me made by the respective colleges. The EVMs will only be made available for DUSU office bearers’ polls.

The officials further urged that the college principals/HODs/deans follow the instructions issued in the form of notifications on the DUSU webpage.
