Woman allegedly murdered by husband and father-in-law in Gurugram

A 30-year-old woman has allegedly been murdered by her husband and father-in-law at her residence in Sector 7 here, police officials confirmed on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Amita, hailing from Sonepat district. About 8 years ago, Amita got married to Mukul Mathur. A mother of two children, she was living here along with her husband and in-laws.

It has been alleged that the woman’s father-in-law first beat her with sticks and then strangulated her to death with a polythene bag and dupatta.

According to Rajesh Bagdi, SHO of New Colony police station, the police received information about the crime at 12 pm. Soon after, the police reached the spot and took the body into custody, which was then sent to the district civil hospital for the postmortem examination.

The police have detained the deceased’s husband and father-in-law for questioning.

The exact reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, the local police have informed Amita’s parents about her death. The police will also record the statement of her parents and find out if there was any marital dispute between Amita and her husband.
