Upon receiving a PCR call on Monday, the Begumpur police station was informed of a fire breakout in a house with people trapped inside. Upon arrival, the police found the main gate locked from within. The fire brigade was summoned to extinguish the flames. During a house inspection, a critically burnt woman was discovered in an unresponsive state.

The victim was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Meanwhile, another PCR call alerted authorities to the admission of an injured man and his two daughters to another hospital.

Upon questioning, one of the daughters revealed that her father had quarrelled with her mother the previous night and had set her on fire using kerosene. Subsequently, the police have registered a case under Section 302 (murder).
