Woman, partner held for insurance agent’s murder

The Faridabad police have arrested a woman and her fiancé for murdering an insurance agent and dumping his body in a drain. It is alleged that the deceased had been shaming the woman for not marrying her fiance.

According to the police, the accused were identified as Laxmi (29), a resident of Mithapur in Delhi and her fiancé Keshav (26), resident of Santosh Nagar, Burari in Delhi. The deceased insurance agent was identified as Chander, a resident of East Vinod Nagar, Delhi.

The body of the deceased was found in a drain on Sunday morning with his motorcycle lying near it. An FIR was registered at Palla police station on the complaint of Madan Gopal, the deceased’s brother.

While investigating, a DLF Crime Branch team arrested both the accused on Monday from Delhi. They confessed to the murder. Initial investigation revealed that the deceased Chander had known the accused woman for four or five years. The woman was now engaged to Keshav and after this Chander allegedly started blackmailing her for not marrying Keshav.

“The accused Laxmi and Keshav hatched a plan to eliminate Chander. On October 25, Laxmi called Chander to Mithapur and took him on a motorcycle to a deserted place towards Etmadpur, where Keshav along with his two friends killed Chander by strangulating him with a rope and hitting him on the head. After this they threw the body in the drain to destroy the evidence. Both the key accused were arrested and raids are on to nab others,” a police spokesperson said.
