Indian-origin Ro Khanna wins reelection to US House in California
Indian-origin Ro Khanna won re-election to a US House seat representing California on Wednesday. Democratic representative Khanna easily defeated Republican Anita Chen.
Earlier in the day, he wrote on X: "Today is a big day to elect our first female President, along with a Democratic House and Senate. It’s always good to be home in Fremont. I’m deeply grateful to everyone in the 17th district for getting out to vote today, and I hope to earn your support for another 2 years in Congress."
Khanna was first elected to the US House in 2016. He had then unseating Mike Honda, another Democrat. Khanna serves on the House Armed Services Committee and on the Oversight and Accountability Committee. The 17th district, which includes parts of Silicon Valley south of San Francisco, has been a safe Democratic seat since at least 1990.
