His powerful and nuanced portrayal of Rehman Dakait has captivated audiences, while a viral clip of his dramatic dance entry to the Arabic track FA9LA has unexpectedly turned him into an internet sensation.
With the spotlight back on him, interest in the actor’s off-screen life—especially his relationships—has grown once again.
A report by MoneyControl has resurfaced with intriguing details about Akshaye’s past. According to the publication, the actor had once come close to marrying Karisma Kapoor. The two, who were close friends, reportedly developed feelings for each other following Karisma’s breakup with Ajay Devgn.
Karisma’s father, Randhir Kapoor, was said to be supportive of their relationship.
The report further states that Randhir even approached Vinod Khanna with a marriage proposal for the two. However, Karisma’s mother, Babita, was allegedly against the match. Since Karisma was at the peak of her career at the time, Babita reportedly felt marriage to Akshaye would not be the right move for her.
True to his private nature, Akshaye Khanna never publicly acknowledged this alleged relationship. Karisma went on to marry industrialist Sunjay Kapur, while Akshaye continues to remain unmarried.
In an earlier interview with Hindustan Times, Akshaye candidly shared his views on marriage, saying he didn’t consider himself “marriage material.” He explained that marriage brings a significant lifestyle shift: “Marriage changes everything. I want full control over my life. When you share your life with somebody else, you can’t have full control.”
Interestingly, his perspective wasn’t always the same. In another old interview with the same publication, Akshaye had expressed hope that he wouldn’t remain a bachelor forever. He had also joked that he didn’t have a specific image of the ideal woman—except that “as long as she’s a great cook, I’ll marry her.”
