The biopic on former India fast bowler Jhulan Goswami wrapped filming in 2022 but has remained unreleased.
According to reports by Mid-Day, the makers reportedly have reinitiated discussions with Netflix, urging them to reconsider creative and budget-related disagreements in light of the Indian women’s cricket team’s recent historic win.
“We have personally written to top executives at Netflix India to see if they can rise above the conflict so that the film can see the light of day. A biopic on a legend like Jhulan di deserves to reach the audience,” a source was quoted as saying.
Directed by Prosit Roy, “Chakda Xpress” traces Jhulan’s journey from a small town cricketer to becoming one of India’s most celebrated pacers.
Anushka, who was last seen on screen in “Zero” (2018), has largely stayed away from acting in recent years.
