Content creator and political commentator Dhruv Rathee on Tuesday criticised the trailer of filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s upcoming spy-action thriller “Dhurandhar”, comparing its graphic violence to ISIS beheading videos. The trailer, released earlier in the day, has otherwise been loved by fans for its dark tone and visceral action.

Rathee took to X, saying Dhar had “crossed a limit of cheapness in Bollywood,” adding that the violence shown in the trailer was “the equivalent of watching ISIS beheadings and calling it entertainment.”

He further alleged that the filmmaker was “poisoning the minds of the young generation” by glorifying torture.

Rathee also urged the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to scrutinise the film for excessive brutality.

“This is the chance for the Censor Board to show if they have a bigger problem with people kissing or watching someone get skinned alive,” he wrote.

“Dhurandhar”, starring Ranveer Singh as an Indian spy in Pakistan, also features Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt and R Madhavan. The trailer includes two scenes that have drawn particular attention for their gore. One shows Rampal’s character, an ISI Major, skinning a man alive. Another depicts Khanna’s character, a Lahore gangster, beating someone to death with a stone.
