Jiya Shankar, who is part of Colors' new show Pishachini, talks about her role, co-stars and supernatural dramas

What made you say yes to Pishachini?

As an actor, I am always eager to take up unique and challenging roles, which give me the chance to experiment with my capabilities. Pishachini is one such show. It is my first-ever supernatural show and that’s what made me say yes to it.

bNot really. I am absolutely thrilled about this one, as there will be a lot of challenges and twists in this story as well as in my character. It will be a whole new journey for me.

How has it been working with your co-stars, Harsh Rajput and Nyrraa Banerjee?

Both of them are very welcoming and great co-actors to work with. We have gotten along very well with each other and I must say our bond is getting stronger with each passing day.

What can the audience look forward to from the show?

I am certain that it is not going to be like any other thriller that audiences have watched on the screen before. Pishachini has been shot amidst the serene locations of Himachal Pradesh, has some larger-than-life aspects, interesting VFX and spooky costumes, which makes the show stand out from the rest.

What are your thoughts on supernatural dramas?

I must say that creating a supernatural show is way too different from any other genre. Since many sequences in these shows are special effects, it becomes more challenging for an actor to deliver.

What aspects do you keep in mind before signing any project?

I keep a few things in mind like making sure that I’m not repeating any character that I’ve played on the screen before.

What kind of roles are you looking forward to in the future?

I want to do either a historical show or a film, and play a warrior’s character.

Do you feel you are a director’s actor?

Yes, I am. I’ve heard that from every single director I’ve worked with.

How has been your journey so far?

It has not been a cakewalk for me, but I would say it has been exciting and I have always been thrilled about my roles.
