According to reports by Humans of Bombay, Dhanashree shared the emotional toll of their separation and criticised Chahal for making a spectacle out of their final court appearance.
Dhanashree said, “Even though we were mentally prepared, I got so emotional. I started howling in front of everybody. I just kept crying. And he (Chahal) walked out first.”
However, what drew widespread attention was the T-shirt Chahal chose to wear that day — one with the words “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy” printed boldly across the front. The image quickly went viral.
Addressing the controversy, Dhanashree said, “Before I even knew about this T-shirt stunt, we were all aware that people were going to blame me for the divorce. You know that people are going to target the woman in these situations.”
Taking a jibe at Chahal, she added, “Are bhai, WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyun pehna hai? (You could’ve just sent a message. Why wear the T-shirt?)”
Her comments come days after Chahal, in a separate interview on Raj Shamani’s podcast, denied cheating allegations and described himself as “one of the most loyal people.”
“People labelled me a cheater. I have never cheated. I only give, never ask. Just because I’m seen with someone doesn’t mean there’s something going on,” Chahal had said.
Chahal and Dhanashree got married in December 2020 and were widely admired for their chemistry on social media. However, trouble surfaced in early 2025 when they were seen outside Bandra Family Court filing for divorce by mutual consent. Though they sought a waiver for the six-month cooling-off period, the court rejected their plea.
After 18 months of living separately, the couple officially parted ways on March 20, 2025. As per reports, Chahal paid Rs 4.75 crore as alimony to Dhanashree.
