Four-day theatre festival with National School of Drama Repertory Company kicks off at the Tagore Theatre today

The Department of Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Tagore Theatre Society will host a four-day Theatre Festival with National School of Drama Repertory Company from January 14 to 17 at the Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, Chandigarh. Each day, a different play will be performed, starting 6.30 pm. Entry is free for all.

During the festival, four plays will be showcased, including Andha Yug on January 14, Layla Majnun on January 15, Maai Ri Mein Ka Se Kahun on January 16 and Babuji on January 17. Andha Yug is a poetic play written by Dharamveer Bharti and directed by Ram Gopal Bajaj. It is based on the events of the last day of the Mahabharata war. Layla Majnun, written by Ismail Choonara, is narrated in the style of traditional poetry. Maai Ri Main Ka Se Kahoon, written by Vijaydan Detha and directed by Ajay Kumar, shows the conflict between a woman’s desire and her emotions, and social restrictions. Live musical play Babuji has been written by Vibhanshu Vaibhav and directed by Rajesh Singh.
