Ali Fazal is diving headfirst into preparations for Mirzapur: The Movie — and in true Ali fashion, he’s chosen an unconventional, deeply rooted path to bring Guddu Bhaiya back to life.

Rather than relying solely on modern supplements and protein shakes, the actor is reportedly tapping into his ancestral roots in pehelwani and kushti — traditional forms of Indian wrestling — to build strength and size. With a family history steeped in these age-old disciplines, Fazal is training in classic pahalwan-style workouts that focus on functional strength, endurance, and raw power.

Adding to the authenticity of his transformation, Fazal is also said to be following time-honoured family recipes — rich in natural proteins, ghee, milk and seasonal produce — to support his diet. These nutrient-dense, home-cooked meals not only fuel his intense gym sessions and wrestling drills but also keep him connected to his cultural heritage.

A source close to the actor said, “Guddu Bhaiya is a beast in his own right and Ali wanted to approach him this time with the same authenticity that his ancestors brought to their craft. His family has a long history in pahalwani and he grew up watching the discipline, grit and sheer physical power it demands. So instead of gulping down endless protein shakes, he is going back to his roots — training like a wrestler, eating like a wrestler.”

Reflecting on his rigorous routine, Fazal shared, “The idea is to build a body that’s not just for show but one that can truly fight, endure and dominate — just like Guddu would. This is my way of bringing a fresher, fiercer Guddu to the screen.”

With anticipation for Mirzapur: The Movie already at fever pitch, fans can expect the return of a raw, powerful, and deeply authentic Guddu Bhaiya — one that blends the grit of the streets with the might of the akhada.
