Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and actor Anupam Kher, who has often expressed his support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), clashed on social media over the latter’s old Twitter posts.

In 2012, Kher had tweeted: “A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.”:) Edward Abbey.”

Tharoor retweeted Kher’s old post and said: “Thanks @AnupamPKher. Agree with you totally here. “Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.” (RsMark Twain).”

The clash continued as Kher called Tharoor “unemployed” and his actions proof that he had “fallen as a person.”

Tharoor then asker Kher if him quoting his old tweets was stooping low “what would you say about a Govt that only quotes 1962,1975& 1984?”

Anupam’s wife, Kiran Kher, is a BJP MP from Chandigarh.
