For Rajni Bector, whose multi-crore company Cremica started from a small kitchen in Ludhiana, Diwali is a special affair. The entire family gets together for the festival, hold feasts and prayers, indulge in chit-chat, and exchange gifts with relatives as well as their team members.

“Diwali has changed a lot in all these years as compared to when I got married in 1957. In those days, the sweets and other things were sent to people, who had lost their near and dear ones and the reason given was that since there was tragedy in the family, they would not be able to get sweets and all. But with changing times, the festival is totally different today. Starting from organising lavish parties to playing cards; the best of food and drinks, Diwali has taken a new shape. But going with the flow, we all enjoy the festival with the younger generation,” says Rajni.

She says they also do their bit for the underprivileged on Diwali. Bector adds, “We have adopted underprivileged children and sponsor their education. We have many vans along with doctors to take care of medical emergencies of villagers around the area. We also donate at religious places.”

Though the three sons, Ajay Bector, Akshay Bector and Anoop Bector, with their wives, Samira, Geeta and Rashmi, respectively, are settled at different places, they all make it a point to meet on Diwali and make it a special affair.
