Kiran Karmarkar played the lead on famous show Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. Now, the show is back for a re-run on Star Plus and here's what Kiran has to say...

What is your view on the re-run of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii?

I am happy the show has made a comeback on Star Plus. It started on August 2. It is great to know that everyone still remembers it even after 14 years.

The show was a huge success. How has it changed your life?

The show has become a part of my identity now, people recognise me as Om from Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. It is a great feeling.

How did you get the role of Om Agarwal?

I had prior experience of working with Balaji. So, when they approached me, things worked out well.

Are you still in touch with show’s cast?

I am still very good friends with Sakshi Tanwar and Ali Asgar. The show made us connect on a personal level and create an unbreakable bond of friendship.

What’s the best compliment that you received for playing Om?

I remember being approached by a man on a flight, who earnestly asked me to change the timing of the show because his wife was so engrossed that she almost always forgot to feed him! This stayed with me because it made me realise how much it affected the daily lives of people who adored the show.

Will you approve a re-creation of the show with a whole new cast?

If someone else were to play that exact role, even with variations or a different storyline, comparisons are bound to happen. This will affect the show and its success after a while. It is always a gamble when you re-create a show that is loved by so many people.
