Did you always want to be an actor?

I belong to a traditional Brahmin family. My childhood dream was to be a doctor but destiny brought me to the industry. I used to take part in plays and skits during school and college days. Later, I joined theatre and landed in Mumbai in 1984 and started working in theatre, films and television shows.

My entire journey has been very good. I am lucky to be recognised as a multi-talented actor.

Whenever a character is conceptualised, the artiste is accordingly chosen and approached. And that is how I was approached for this role. I did have two or three offers, but this character was unique. It has always been my endeavour to do something different. It challenges us to go beyond the ordinary.

How does it feel to be back on the sets after a gap?

It feels like getting a new lease of life. I felt like a caged bird, and now all out flapping my wings, ready to fly once again.

How has this pandemic affected you?

This pandemic has affected everyone. I have learnt in this lockdown to respect nature and also learnt to live life with less money.

What kept you busy during the lockdown?

This lockdown gave me the much needed break. While working long hours you do not get time to build memories with the family. This was a reboot phase.

What is your dream role?

To be honest, all the roles I have played so far have in a way been a dream role. My dream, however, is that I get a chance to play every type of character till my last breath.
