Debattama Saha, who is currently seen in the show Shaurya Aur Anokhi Ki Kahani, talks about her career

What is the show Shaurya Aur Anokhi Ki Kahani about?

Our show is based on the clash of two different ideologies. It is the story of an ordinary, young girl from small-town in Punjab, who has very ordinary dreams like having a career and becoming independent.

Can you share details of your role in the show?

My character Anokhi Bhalla is very hardworking and ambitious in life. She is a mature person, confident and courageous person. I relate to my character Anokhi in many ways and strongly believe in the empowerment of women.

How did you prepare for the character?

Punjabi as a language was new to me so I had to work hard on that. I improved my skills during various workshops I attended.

How would you define yourself?

I am filled with a lot of emotions and depth. I try to understand people and their point of views before speaking. I keep my talk crisp and clear.

What is that one quality that helped you become a better actor?

Basically, the struggles I faced during my initial days of becoming an actor helped me grow stronger. I come from a small village in Assam and then later moved to Kolkata to begin my dream career — acting. I never thought I would reach here one day.

Is there anything in particular that you are obsessed about?

I am particularly obsessed with cleaning. I ensure that my room is always kept clean — be it my workplace or my house. I’m also obsessed with clicking pictures for social media.

What is your agenda for 2021?

My agenda for 2021 is to remain calm and positive.
