Anjali Gaikwad opens up on her Indian Idol journey…

Last weekend saw contestant Anjali Gaikwad being eliminated from Sony TV’s Indian Idol. During her stint on the show, Anjali managed to gather appreciation from the judges, especially because of her classical singing. Anjali says, “The journey has been incredible and I have taken back with me a lot of wonderful memories. During the Rekha ji special episode, post my performance, unhone meri nazar utari and gave me a silver coin as her blessing. Even when the legendary music maestro, A. R. Rahman stated that whenever he gets tired or has some free time to himself, he listens to classical songs sung by me. I had to pinch myself to understand if it was a dream or reality!”

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
