‘Pavitra Rishta’ actress Priya Marathe passes away at 38

‘Pavitra Rishta’ actress Priya Marathe passed away in Mumbai on Sunday. She was 38 and had been battling cancer for the past year.

Born on April 23, 1987, in Mumbai, Priya completed her schooling and college in the city before venturing into acting. She began her television career with the Marathi serial “Ya Sukhanova” and later “Char Divas Sasuche”.

Priya was best known for her role as Varsha Satish in ‘Pavitra Rishta’. She also played the role of Vidya Bali in Balaji Telefilms’ “Kasamh Se” and was later seen in the first season of “Comedy Circus”. The actress later went on to play Jyoti Malhotra in “Bade Achhe Lagte Hain”, which aired on Sony TV in 2012.

Over the years, she featured in several other shows, including “Tu Tithe Me”, “Bhaage Re Mann”, “Jayastute”, and “Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap”.

Priya acted in films such as the 2008 Hindi movie “Humne Jeena Seekh Liya” and the the Marathi film “Ti Ani Itar”, directed by Govind Nihalani.

She got married to actor Shantanu Moghe in 2012.
