Zee TV’s Jagriti-Ek Nayi Subah has kept audiences hooked with its gripping and inspiring storyline. In a shocking new twist, Jagriti (played by Rachana Mistry), a fearless IPS officer from the marginalised Chitta community, finds herself in a heartbreaking turn of events that compels her to shoot her own mother, Geeta (played by Titiksha Shrivastava), to save the nation.

In a moment that defines her very soul, she chooses duty over her deepest bond, standing firm for justice even when it demands the unthinkable.

Stepping into Jagriti’s shoes has been a deeply enriching journey for Rachana, revealing that real strength isn’t about aggression but about calm determination.

Rachana says, “This was by far the most emotionally draining yet empowering scene I’ve ever performed. To portray Jagriti’s pain and duty authentically, I immersed myself in her journey, from her childhood to her dream of becoming an IPS officer. I even journaled as Jagriti before the take, reminding myself, ‘This is her truth now.’ It helped me channel her turmoil and strength with honesty. The experience made me truly appreciate the courage and sacrifice of women in uniform and has changed me both as an actor and as a person.”

While Jagriti’s world turned upside down as she had to let go of her mother, it will be interesting for the viewers to watch how will she take care of her husband Suraj (Vijayendra Kumeria), who has no memory of her.
