Basking in the glory of of Kabir Khan’s cricket-drama ’83’, which opened to some rave reviews, is Ranveer Singh who essays the role of former Indian cricket skipper Kapil Dev in the film. On real Kapil Dev’s birthday today (January 6) Ranveer Singh takes to Instagram to wish the legenedary cricketer. 

Posting a picture with Kapil Dev, in which he shares an uncanny resemblance with the captain of the 1983 World Cup-winning squad, Ranveer Singh wrote, “Happy birthday to the original Sakht Jaan @therealkapildev what an honour it’s been embodying your champion spirit on screen!”

Other actors from the film also commented on the post. Jatin Sarna, who played Yashmal Sharma in the film wrote, “Dono ka jawaab nahi,” actor Adinath Kothare, who portrays cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar in the film, posted five red heart emojis in the comments. Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar also left heart emojis for the picture.

Released in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, ’83’ is inching towards hitting the
Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office.
