Shruti Panwar enters 'Punyashlok Ahilyabai'

Sony Entertainment Television’s magnum opus Punyashlok Ahilyabai is set for an eight-year leap. While actors Aetashaa Sansgiri, Rajesh Shringarpore and Gaurav Amlani will continue to essay the roles of Ahilya Bai, Malhar Rao Holkar and Khanderao Holkar after the leap, the show-makers have roped in the eminent actress Shruti Panwar as the new Gautama Bai, the wife of Malhar Rao Holkar and Ahilyabai’s mother-in-law.

Says Shruti, “After doing a number of notable historical shows earlier in my career, I am glad to have bagged the role of Gautama Bai. Ahilyabai has been an inspiration to many and playing a pivotal part in telling her story is going to be challenging, yet exciting. As I have joined the show in the middle and as the character of Gautama Bai is already established.”

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
