Shah Rukh Khan’s actor-friend Juhi Chawla stood as surety for 23-year-old Aryan Khan before the special court, designated to hear cases related to the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

Chawla went to the Mumbai Sessions Court to stand surety and signed his bail bond of Rs 1 lakh. After signing the documents, Chawla obliged the court staff with selfies.

Cruise drugs case: NDPS court grants bail to 7 more accused

“The main thing is – ab bas bachcha ghar aajayega (Aryan will return home),” the veteran actor told reporters afterwards. “It’s a big relief,” she added.

Chawla, 53, was one of Shah Rukh’s earliest co-stars and the pair starred in many blockbusters. The two later became co-owners of the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders.

Aryan and Chawla’s daughter Jhanvi Mehta had recently participated in an IPL players’ auction.

Aryan was arrested by the NCB on October 3 and booked under the NDPS Act for possession, consumption, sale/purchase of banned drugs and conspiracy and abetment.

The arrest came a day after the NCB raided the cruise ship and claimed to have seized banned drugs.

So far, 20 people have been arrested in the case and two of them were granted bail by the special NDPS court earlier this week.
