Superintendent of Police (SP) Kamaldeep Goyal flagged off ten rider bikes on various routes across Yamunanagar district on Saturday. These teams have been deployed with the onset of foggy and misty weather, with the aim of preventing road accidents and ensuring safer travel for the public.

The SP said that the winter season had set in and fog had begun appearing on the roads, significantly reducing visibility and increasing the risk of collisions.

“It has often been observed that big vehicles suddenly break down and come to a halt in the middle of the road. At such times, drivers coming from behind cannot see the stopped vehicle. Their vehicles run directly under the stopped big vehicle, resulting in a serious accident. Sometimes, such accidents even result in the death of the driver and other people,” said Goyal.

He added that, keeping this danger in mind, rider teams had been instructed to remain alert and manage safety immediately in the event of any vehicle breakdown.

“All rider bikes are equipped with wireless sets, reflector jackets, bar lights and other necessary safety equipment, making them visible even in darkness and fog, ensuring road safety,” said SP Kamaldeep Goyal.

He said all riders had been strictly directed that if they spot a breakdown or stationary vehicle, they must immediately position themselves behind it and form a safety triangle until the vehicle is removed from the road or repaired.

The SP noted that this step was crucial so that approaching vehicles could see the obstruction well in advance and avoid potential accidents.

He further said rider teams had also been instructed to promptly report any road disruptions, accidents, traffic jams or similar situations to the control room and ensure swift action on the spot.

“These teams will patrol highways, main roads and crowded areas to ensure even stronger road safety during foggy weather,” Goyal added.
