With a 100-days roadmap for Karnal city, Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand and Mayor Renu Bala Gupta held a meeting with officials of the various departments at the PWD rest house on Tuesday evening, directing them to resolve public grievances on a priority basis. They warned that negligence in work would lead to strict action against the officials concerned.

During the meeting, they emphasised on timely completion of ongoing projects in the city. Anand expressed concern over the delays faced by residents in getting their problems resolved by departments such as the Municipal Corporation, UHBVN, and Public Health Department. “People should not be forced to run from pillar to post for their genuine work. It is the duty of the officials to address public grievances promptly. If officials discharge their responsibilities diligently, citizens will not have to approach us repeatedly," he said.

The MLA and the Mayor instructed the Municipal Corporation officials to expedite the correction of property IDs and approval of building maps, highlighting that many residents struggled due to slow processing. “We have received several complaints about delays in these matters. The officials must ensure these services are completed at the earliest so that people do not face unnecessary harassment," they asserted. They also directed officials to accelerate pending development projects in the city. With the summer season approaching, they directed the officials of the UHBVN to ensure uninterrupted power supply. "The demand for electricity will rise in the coming months. The UHBVN must replace old wires and upgrade the infrastructure wherever necessary to prevent power outages,” said the MLA.

Accompanied by former BJP officiating district president Brij Gupta also highlighted the issues of delay in completion of various projects under the Smart City. The MLA and the Mayor directed the Public Health and Engineering Department to resolve drinking water supply issues immediately. “Basic amenities such as clean drinking water must be ensured in every area. Any delay in this regard will not be tolerated," the Mayor warned.

Renu Bala Gupta reminded officials that they had  responsibility towards the public who elected them. "The people of Karnal have placed their faith in the administration. It is our primary duty to meet their expectations and deliver quality services efficiently," she said. She further emphasised that all departments must work with commitment to resolve issues affecting the common people.

Former officiating BJP district president Brij Gupta also stressed the need for accountability and proactive governance. "Officials should work with a sense of urgency and responsibility. Any delay in resolving public complaints damages the credibility of the administration. We will not tolerate negligence in delivering public services," he stated.

Dr Vaishali Sharma, Commissioner, KMC, assured them, on the behalf of the Municipal Corporation, that they would ensure cleanliness in the city. Besides, all roads would be free of potholes soon. Apart from her, officials from other departments also assured them that necessary measures would be taken to address public grievances efficiently.
